Play the music clearly and close enough for your iPhone to hear it, allow microphone access, and tap the circle in the middle of Fanforth’s home screen to start listening. If a call, Siri or another app that records interrupts listening, come back to Fanforth and tap the circle again. Some recordings can’t be recognized.

Fanforth looks lyrics up through its own service at lyrics.mitmon.com. Fanforth’s own database is the primary source; public LRCLIB is used only as a fallback when the database has no usable result. Lyrics aren’t available for every song or recording.

Lyrics depend on the recording and the catalogue, so some songs have none and some have words without timing. If the words run early or late, tap the metronome next to the song’s title at the bottom of the screen and use Earlier or Later, or press and hold the line being sung and choose “This line is playing now”. Fanforth remembers the adjustment for that song.

Free includes 10 lyric lookups an hour on each device. Only a lookup that finds words counts, and a song you already looked up within the hour doesn’t count again while Fanforth stays open. A Lyrics Pack adds 25 more that don’t expire; Plus and Pro remove the limit.

Keep a Moment to save a photo with the song, and on an iPhone with LiDAR you can scan the place too. Free keeps 10 saved scenes at a time. Delete one to make room, or get Plus or Pro to keep more. If Plus ends, the scenes you already have stay.

Open Settings in Fanforth, then Fanforth Plus, and tap Restore Purchases while signed in with the Apple Account that made the purchase. Manage Subscription opens Apple’s subscription settings, where you can cancel. Pro is a one-time purchase with no recurring charge. A Lyrics Pack is kept only in Fanforth on the iPhone you bought it on: Restore Purchases can’t bring it back, so deleting the app removes any lookups you haven’t used. While Fanforth is listening, the Nearby icon in the top bar starts or joins a room. A room can have a code of four to six digits. Phones in a room share which song is playing and where it is, directly between phones over Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth. iOS asks for local network access the first time you start listening, even if you never join a room, because that’s when Fanforth starts looking for rooms nearby. Nearby needs it; listening and lyrics work without it.

Open Fanforth on your Apple Watch to follow the current line and to stop listening. To start from the watch, have Fanforth open on your iPhone’s screen first, because iOS only lets an app start the microphone while it’s in use. While synced lyrics are showing, turn the Digital Crown or tap Earlier and Later to nudge the timing. The watch works with the Fanforth app on your iPhone, which does the listening.

Delete a play or a scene in Fanforth to remove it. Settings → iCloud → Delete iCloud Data removes what Fanforth synced to your private iCloud and keeps the copies on this iPhone. Deleting the app removes its data on the iPhone, but not your iCloud copy or device backups; manage those in iOS Settings.

Change what Fanforth can use in iOS Settings → Fanforth. Tap Stop to end listening. Remember Where and iCloud sync are optional. Saving a scene picture asks for add-only access to Photos; Fanforth never reads your photo library.

Lyrics aren’t filtered and can contain explicit language and mature themes. Fanforth isn’t directed at children under 13.
